Default The Problem with Insignia

I'll start off by saying that I was pleasently supprized to see thatthis most recent build had converted all armors to the insignia system. This is a wonderful thing that will allow for intense customization. However, I must say that I am disappointed to see that the insignia prices are not fixed. The new player who wants to have a full set of sentinal's armor is s.o.l. Please, let armor appearence stay the prestige, not functionality. Set the insignia prices to a fixed number.

Just wait a week for the prices to stabilize. This happened when Nightfall first came out too.

Pretty much all of them are reasonable prices, except for sentinel's and bloodstained. Bloodstained sucks not to have for a necro, but sentinel's is pretty terrible anyway. If high prices on it mean new players don't use it, that's a good thing.

One thing you have to remember is that our entire stock of insignia's so far are all from Nightfall. Just this evening, not an hour ago, I got a mesmer insignia while in gates of Kryta. Give it about 2 weeks for stocks to build up after people farm from other chapters

They were very stable, below 500g each (well, except that Necro one that decreases casting time for death magic or whatever). The addition of insignia to Tyrian armour spiked the prices. Wait a couple of days, it'll settle again.

Actually prices on insignia's HAVE been steadily rising over time, even BEFORE the update today.

I recall seeing Radiants and Survivors under 500 (200 and 300 respectively) not too long (a few weeks) ago ... last time I checked today, Survivor was at 850-900, and Radiant at 1600 or so - that hurts.

I -hope- prices will stabilize, but I fear it will be a long time, especially for some of the common insignia's, to revert to more reasonable prices.

Fixed prices ... I don't know. It would be a serious market shift, and it would reduce trade between players, something A.net has been encouraging.

And when Factions came out the stocks of materials quickly ran out. From memory it took a month or two for Assassin and Ritualist runes to reach stable stock levels, longer for amber/jadeite.

Give the market a month or so to stabilize, then think about this again. Until then, try making use of the other insignia.

Prices will stabilize, and when they do, we'll have 3 continents with the best armor system. Seems like a good move to me.

I do hope - but I still think it's a bummer that max value collector armor has been specifically exempted from using Insignia's.

But hat it is true is that they should have a bit mor strict fixed prices, like scrolls have... something like... 250..1000 or 100..2000...
Only for insignia, of course, runes are ok as they are.

(Inscriptions are next... I'm just thinking about it... inscribable Jittes...)

Radiant and Survivor shot up in price around the time HM came out, iirc...

No.

Let the price stabilize on its own - it's better in the long run.
Right now, demand outstrips supply (I wouldn't be at all surprised if stuff began selling out at the dealer - buyers beware!) but as people gather more drops and start dropping stuff at the Rune Trader prices WILL come down and restabilize, perhaps not where they were, but they will stabilize.

These price spikes do happen, it's normal, if a royal pain in the backside (now is NOT a good moment to start a new character) and artificially controlling price is not an answer, unfortunately.

One good reason is speculators - people with enough money reserves to buy up a large chunk to sit on them, possibly forcing a sellout and being able to demand any price the market will bear, which probably will end up *higher* than the actual market value.
Another is that it autobalances ... same with materials. It happens every time a new wave of players enters the game or a new set with cool armor gets released - prices for those materials spike briefly, take a week to stabilize, and everyone happily lives ever after.

Intervention should be a last-ditch resort when ALL the alternatives are too grim to contemplate.

No I would say set a fixed price so that we may fix our damaged useless armour for a few weeks.I don't know if know what living on a tight budget is like but I do.I live on a very tight budget in real life. These insignias will stay inflated aslong as it did when players were buying runes for heros which they did not need. That remained at 5 weeks of high priced runes an all time high for GW.

Now the demand for radiant isignias I get...
What baffles me is the sentinel one. I mean, you get this incredible flexible armour system... And then you put a mod on it wich requires the use of a specific rune and fixes your strength attribute at 12. *gasp* Unless there's someone out there who actually uses major or even superior strength.

What do I miss, sentinel's sucks yes?(strength too, while I'm at it)

What's funny is, if somebody had crafted a bunch of canthan armor with +energy RIGHT before the update, he'd then have a ton of free radiant insignias that he could sell for more then he bought the armor for.

^That is one stipulation regulating prices atm.

Also, a lot of people probablly bought radiant insignas up as soon as they saw the update (knowing that prices would rise) and are just sitting on stockpiles of them.

Anyway, prices WILL stabilize. No need to panic. It's simple economics. If prices get too out of hand, a.net will just secretly raise the drop rate a little to help it settle. They would never set the price of items at a fixed rate.

Personally, the Factions system strikes me as being a better system, as could get all looks, mix and match functionality, and didn't have to follow the whims of the market if you wanted energy armour, and some other kinds
